About Jeanie B

How It All Began

Hello, I’m Jean, furniture restorer, workshop host, and the creative spark behind Jeanie B.

This journey began with one rescued bookcase and a whole lot of curiosity. During COVID, after moving from Somerset West to Port Elizabeth, I wanted something hands-on to keep me busy. I bought a second-hand bookcase for my books, but the colour didn’t quite match my style. Experimenting with paint types and colour schemes sparked a new passion, and I sold my first refurbished bookcase on Facebook Marketplace.

Soon, I found a larger bookcase to fit my collection, and that’s when it clicked: I loved the process of stripping down worn furniture, refurbishing it, modernising it, and bringing it back to life so it could be loved in a new home for years to come.

This little bookcase sparked a new passion. It was the first piece I stripped, painted, and sold, and the beginning of Jeanie B.

What Drives Me

I’m motivated by seeing a project evolve from my original vision to the finished piece. Every piece has its own personality, challenges, and opportunities for creative expression, which makes each project exciting and unique. I take a meticulous approach, keeping projects in my workshop until they meet the high standards I set for myself. My clients appreciate the care, attention to detail, and open communication that guide every step of the process.
